Yvette Marie Pretty Feather was born to Sylvester St. Pierre and Twilla Jones on December 11, 1975, she lived all of her life in McLaughlin, SD. Yvette attended the head start at the age of 3 years old, graduating from the program. She continued her education at the McLaughlin Elementary/High School and continued and finished her education, graduating on May, 1994.
After high school she started working at the Bear Soldier Head Start Program. From there she went to work at the Early Childhood Center in Fort Yates, ND., as she loved working with children. Later she came back to work at the Bingo Hall for the T.W.E.P. Program where she worked as secretary for several years. This inspired her to go further her education in office work. She enrolled at the Sitting Bull College in 1997, and received many certificates from the college, Dean's Honor List Spring Semester 2000, Spring Semester 2003, President's Honor List, and Fall 2007 Honor roll. Unfortunately she wasn't able to receive her diploma due to her health. She wanted to finish her degree which was her passion and her dream. She worked various jobs through out her life, until she was able to save enough money to move to Bismarck, ND where she attended the United Tribes Technical College where she received her degree in Associate of Science, Applied Science in Business & Office Technology on May 5, 2006.
In the summer months she would attend the pow wow's, as she lived to watch the Men's Traditional dancers and to hear the drum groups. She especially liked Sioux Echo as her many hunka brothers sang with the group. She would also look forward to her family who would come home from the east to do the clothing drive.
Yvette had many friends and family who will miss her dearly, she was a very friendly person, always smiling, laughing and keeping the laughter going. She was a very bubbly person, along with her beautiful smile and joking ways. When she knew you were down and out, she would come with her smile, to brighten up your day with a smile that so many of us will remember and miss.
