Wilma was born September 27, 1956 in Mobridge, South Dakota to Willie and Amelia Ackerman. Wilma was raised in Herreid, South Dakota and attended and graduated from Herreid High School in 1974. She excelled at academics, attended Girl's State and was a member of the High School drill team.

From a young age Wilma was always interested in and had a compassion for others. This led her to receive her Diploma of Nursing from Bismarck State College in 1977.
After graduating college, Wilma wed long-time love, Ronnie Goehring on September 16, 1978. They made their home in Mobridge, South Dakota where she began working at the Mobridge Regional Hospital. Throughout her 28 years here, not only did she mentor and inspire members of the hospital staff, she considered them to be part of her extended family. She was blessed to work beside these talented medical professionals to give their patients the best care possible. This part of her "family" often exchanged recipes, celebrated holidays and shared life stories.

Wilma went on to work at the Golden Living Center in Mobridge, South Dakota and was currently employed by the Good Samaritan Center in Selby, South Dakota.
Wilma and Ronnie started their family in 1979 when they welcomed their first daughter, Kimberly (Goehring) Longbrake. They further expanded their family with a son, Ryan Goehring in 1982 and daughter, Kayla (Goehring) Wolff in 1987.

Wilma took great pleasure in evening drives with the family, whether just enjoying the scenery and company or spotting pheasants road hunting. No one had an eye quite like hers. Wilma enjoyed concerts of all variety from the local high school choruses, Mobridge Community Concerts to popular Country bands with her family. Traveling was also a huge part of her life. Her goal was to show her family the world. Much of the traveling included warm beaches, amusement parks and sporting events. Wilma was an avid Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins fan.

Fourteen years ago, a new chapter began when her first grandchild was born. With 8 grandchildren total, she was proud of all their accomplishments and looked forward to all their visits. From sharing her gum in her purse to driving lessons with the oldest, she made memories they will cherish forever.

Wilma is survived by her love, Ronnie Goehring of Mobridge, South Dakota; daughter, Kimberly Longbrake of Sugar Hill, Georgia; son, Ryan (Nicole) Goehring of Herreid, South Dakota; daughter, Kayla (Cody) Wolff of Mobridge, South Dakota; brother, Norman (Cathy) Ackerman of Lincoln, North Dakota and 8 grandchildren; Nicolette, Peyton, Kennedy and Brady Longbrake, Ava and Auna Wolff and Molly and Madison Goehring. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Amelia Ackerman.
