Funeral services for William "Kaptain" Helper Jr., 46, of McLaughlin will be at noon, Monday, December 12, 2022, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in McLaughlin. Burial will be at Good Shepherd Episcopal Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 5 PM on Sunday, December 11, 2022 with a prayer service at 7 PM at the funeral home. William passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Avera McKennon Hospital in Sioux Falls.

William Franklin Helper Jr. (Kaptain) was born to William and Mary Ann (Chasing Hawk) Helper on October 18, 1976. William attended grade school in McLaughlin and while in grade school he went to the dome in Vermillion to participate in Punt, Pass and Kick.

He loved to go to the slot tournaments with his nephews at the casino, hanging out with his friends, and listening to pow wow music. He was a good frybread maker and liked to cook on the grill in the summer time. He is gonna be greatly missed by the Bear Soldier Community.

Grateful to share in his life are his sisters, Billie Jo Helper and Wilma (Jose Alvarado) Helper.

William (Kaptain) is now with his family, including his grandparents, Leo and Elisabeth Chasing Hawk, Wallace and Julia Helper, parents, William and Mary Ann Helper, sisters, Michelle Helper, Willow Helper, nephews, Tyler Helper and Corey Yellow Earrings.
