Funeral services for Wilfred J. Jones, 64, of McLaughlin will be at 11 AM, Tuesday June 24, 2025, at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Wakpala under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will start at 9 AM on Tuesday. Wilfred passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Wilfred J. Jones "Mani Luta", 64, peacefully left to the spirit world on June 10, 2025, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.
Wilfred J. Jones was born to Leonard G. Jones and LaVorra M. (Goodfur) Jones on February 11, 1961, at the Fort Yates Hospital in Fort Yates, ND. Wilfred attended headstart, elementary, and high school at the McLaughlin Public school up to his junior year. He graduated from Standing Rock School; he then continued his education at Standing Rock college, where he received his degree in criminal justice. From there he became a children's advocate for the tribal court and later he worked at the headstart in transportation. Then he became a minister for Church of God. He was also a member of the McLaughlin School Board.

Wilfred had a big heart and smile. He was always willing to help with family and children. He would always say, "I am just a common man." (Ikce Wicasa) Wilfred loved his Indian ways and his church, he was confirmed on August 5, 2023, at the St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church. He attended regularly and events at Church of God.

Wilfred is survived by his siblings Katherine Martin, Wayne & Lynette Jones of McLaughlin, SD, Guy Jones, Nancy Jones of Dayton, OH, Hunka brothers Sonny (Cheryl) Hensley of Kentucky, Randy Medrano & family of Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard & LaVorra Jones, brothers Phillip Archambault of Portland, OR, Leonard W. Jones, Wilmar Charles (infant), David Jones, John "Coco" Garter, Hunka brothers Mike Hoffa of Ohio, sister Twilla Jones, nieces Pascalissa Jones, Yvette Pretty Feather, nephew Winfred S. Jones, granddaughter, Eileen "Baby Lee" Jones, and many other relatives that have gone before him.

He will be missed dearly.
