Funeral services for Wilbur C. Mutchler age 56 of Isabel will be 1:00 PM Friday, August 16, 2019 at the Isabel Community Center. Interment will be in the St. John's Episcopal Church Cemetery in Bullhead under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. All night wake will begin at 6:00 PM Thursday, August 15, 2019 at the Community Center in Isabel. Wilbur passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Eagle Butte IHS Hospital.
Wilbur Charles Mutchler was born on May 19, 1963 in Fort Yates, ND to Reno Mutchler and Mavis Little Eagle. During his grade school year's, he attended various schools which included Denver, CO and Aberdeen, SD. In 1979, he relocated to Isabel, SD where he attended high school and graduated in 1983. During high school he enjoyed playing basketball and running track, in which he lettered. While attending high school he met his wife Faye, and together they started a life. He worked for numerous local ranchers, Lindskov Ranch & Randy Alley, Miller construction, both Jerome and Jimmy Miller for 20 years, 15 of them on and off. He also worked for the city of Isabel as the utility superintendent and the Timber Lake Elk Ranch, where he enjoyed working with the elk and guiding hunters from all over.
In 2017 he received his certificate in commercial driving at Sitting Bull College.
2018, Wilbur decided he wanted to retire and stay at home with his wife, together they enjoyed helping raise and watch their grandchildren grow. He was very proud of his children and enjoyed seeing them and his grandchildren every day. Other things he took joy in were working on his diamond willow canes, listening to music, doing yard work, and tinkering around outside with different things. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and gathering with his family.
Wilbur enjoyed his life in Isabel and was proud to call it home. He was known to be a kind and loving person, always with a smile on his face.
Wilbur is survived by his wife, Faye; Children, Matthew, Misty (Dan-Dre) Schambriel, Mitchell, Maven, Megan (Brent Spafford), Milo, Monique (C.J Taylor); Grandchildren, Ashton Kerstiens, Otto, Amanda & Autym Red Bear, Aliviah Schambriel, Harlem & Oaklee Mutchler, Chance Simpson, Chloe Spafford, Kingstyn Mutchler, Jackson &Charlie Taylor and Luke & Lily Mutchler; Father, Reno Mutchler-Rapid City, SD; Mother, Mavis (Oley) Little Eagle-Bullhead, SD; Brothers, Melbert (Melinda) Mutchler-Bullhead, SD, Ernie (Carletta) Mutchler-Cannonball, ND, Reno Mutchler Jr-Grand Forks, ND; Sisters, Brenda (Tim) Harper-Rapid City, SD, Anne Mutchler-Bullhead, SD; Uncles, Leon (Diane) Brown Otter and Roger Steele; Aunts, Elizabeth Bruguier and Pearl Hagan; Grandmother, Anna Mea Steele.
