In Loving Memory of Wendy Kaye Shupick
March 25, 1963 – April 7, 2026

With heavy hearts but eternal hope, we announce the passing of Wendy Kaye Shupick on April 7, 2026, at her home on Shupick Farm in rural Eagle Butte, South Dakota, at the age of 63. Wendy was welcomed into God's arms, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion to family.

Wendy was born on March 25, 1963, in Gettysburg, South Dakota, to Wendell and Sharon Winkler. She grew up alongside her older brother, Richard Winkler.

She attended country school through the 8th grade and then transferred to Gettysburg High School. While in high school, her father Wendell Winkler passed away in 1979. Wendy graduated from high school in 1981 with friends who would become lifelong friends. She then attended Western Dakota Tech in Sturgis, South Dakota. She received an associate's degree that would start her career working for the Federal government in Huron. She became the administrative assistant of the State Director of the FMHA.

She was a devoted wife to Charles Louis Shupick, whom she married on January 3, 1991, in freezing cold weather. The temperature was -20F and people left their cars running during the ceremony. This was a testament to their steadfast love and God-centered commitment. Together they built a home grounded in faith, love, and service to one another.

Wendy was a proud and loving mother to Matthew Louis Shupick and Macy Kaye Shupick. Her children were her greatest blessing. She enjoyed following Macy around to all her sporting events and making sure Matthew had all the latest technology. Becoming a grandmother to Jeanne Shupick brought her immense joy, and she cherished that role as one of God's greatest gifts.

Wendy dedicated more than 32 years of faithful service to Moreau Grand Electric. Her diligence, honesty, and integrity reflected the values she lived by, and she was respected and loved by all who knew her.

Wendy found joy in the simple gifts of life that reflected God's creation. She loved spending time with her cats. She had several dozen cats throughout her life. Never underestimate her ability to make a cat fat! She also loved playing the piano, shooting pool, and bowling with her purple bowling ball. She would never miss the opportunity to tell you that she hit the eight ball on the break in Wyoming. She won numerous trophies in her younger days. These activities reflected both her focus and joyful spirit. She tended her garden with care, and found peace beside the water while catching catfish, but also screaming "CHARLIE I GOT ONE!"

Wendy is survived by her husband of 35 years, Charles Louis Shupick; her son, Matthew Louis (Julie) Shupick, and granddaughter, Jeanne Autumn Shupick; and her daughter, Macy Kaye (Damian) Shupick. She was preceded in death by her father, Wendell Winkler; her mother, Sharon Winkler, who died one day later, April 8, 2026, from a broken heart; her brother, Richard Winkler; as well as her grandparents and great-grandparents.

Wendy's life was a testament to faith, love, and resilience. She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her quiet strength in life's challenges, and her enduring spirit. Her legacy of love and faith will continue to shine in her husband, children, and granddaughter, guiding them in God's light.

She was deeply loved, will be profoundly missed, and now rests in the everlasting peace of our Lord.
