Funeral services for Wendlin Selzler, age 91, of Lemmon will Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 11AM at Kesling Funeral Chapel of Mobridge, SD. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Home of Mobridge, SD. Visitation will be Friday from 4PM to 7PM at the funeral home and prior to the services. Wendlin passed away Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Hettinger Hospital in Hettinger, ND.

Wendlin Selzler was born January 17, 1921 to Frank and Magdalena (Schmaltz) Selzler in Hayes, ND. He was one of ten children born to Frank and Magdalena. During his early childhood years the family lived in the Wakpala and Glencross areas. As a teenager he went to live at the Redfield State Hospital and School.

While living in Redfield, he was their maintenance helper. Wendlin enjoyed plumbing and other repair work to keep busy. On October 7, 1986 he went to live at the LIVE Center in Lemmon, SD. He was usually happy, but had his moments. While in his younger years in Lemmon, Wendlin liked to go places. In later years he was content to staying at home in his recliner and watching movies and eating popcorn. He had a good quality of life in Lemmon. Wendlin enjoyed collecting baseball cards and playing cards, and also enjoyed his Copenhagen chewing tobacco. "Selz" was his nickname at the LIVE Center.

Wendlin is survived by his brother Frank Selzler of Mobridge and sister Mary Goldade of Rapid City, many nieces and nephews, and his guardian representative Brenda Even.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Magdalena, and siblings Sebastian, Antone, Joe, Ann Billman, Katherine Logan, Barbara Ankney, and Maggie Scott.
