He was baptized April 3rd, 1927 in the Norway Lutheran Church. He grew up on the family farm in Campbell County and attended rural schools.
Warren 'Punk' was drafted into the United States Army in June 1945. He was honorably separated from service in November 1946. After his military service he returned to the family farm. He was eventually employed with various trades involving railroad work (bridges and buildings) and survey work (United States National Geodetic Survey). During his survey work he helped build towers throughout the United States including Alaska. He worked in the construction trades as a carpenter (new construction and remodeling). At various times he was self-employed as a carpenter and local handyman.
In 1962 Punk and LaVerne moved 'The Big House' onto an acreage north of Mobridge. He lived on the property for 54 years. He took great pride in developing the acreage as well as other properties. The acreage was his pride and joy. He raised chickens, ducks, hogs, horses and ponies. The kids were all able to raise a favorite pet and help with tending to large gardens which he planted each spring. He was an artist at heart and enjoyed creating pencil and ink drawings of nature and animals.
