Funeral services for Vivian Schlomer, 92, of Pueblo, CO, and formerly of Mobridge will be at 11 AM, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at St. Jacobi Lutheran Church in Glenham. Burial will be at the Glenham Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Friday at the funeral home. Vivian passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at the University Park Care Center in Pueblo.
Vivian (Hanson) Schlomer
Vivian Marie Schlomer was born on January 31, 1924, to Alfred and Anna Hanson near Pingree, ND. When she was a baby, her family moved to a farm north of Glenham, SD. She went to a country school and then graduated from Glenham High School in 1942. After receiving her teaching certificate from Madison State Teachers College, she taught for two years. She married Richard Schlomer on July 23, 1944, at Ft. Benning, Georgia. Vivian and Richard farmed east of Glenham until they retired and moved to Mobridge in 1990.
Vivian was a warm, soft spoken lady who shared her profound love and faith in the Lord with her family. She devoted her life to being a homemaker, a loving mother and a grandmother. Many hours were spent sewing clothes and quilts. She was an active member of St. Jacobi Lutheran Church in Glenham, SD.
After Richard died in January, 2011, Vivian moved to Pueblo West, CO, to live with her daughter, Diane and Greg Flack. After falling and breaking a hip, she spent her last years at University Park Care Center in Pueblo, CO.
Vivian is survived by her four children: Duane (Barbara) Schlomer, Diane (Greg) Flack, Doris (Robbie) Casey, and Donald (Sandra) Schlomer and 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren; her brother and sisters: Clarence Hanson, Agnes Schlomer, and Jennie Carlson, and in-laws: Josie Hanson, Victor Schlomer, Maria Schlomer and Lorraine Fowler.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents- Alfred and Anna Hanson, Siblings: Arnold, Vernon, Mable, Hilma, Myrtle, Hazel, and Violet.
