Funeral services for Virginia Tucker, age 101, of Mobridge will be at 11:30 AM, Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the UCC Church in Mobridge. Burial will be at Selby Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM on Thursday. Virginia passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the Selby Good Samaritan Center.

Virginia Elizabeth Tucker was born on July 24, 1912 in Mobridge the second oldest born to William Albert and Edna May (Marin) Fansler. She was raised on a farm southwest of Selby. She attended Wayside Country School until the eighth grade before attending Mobridge High School graduating in 1930. On November 15, 1930 she married Charles Tucker in Mobridge. They made their home in Mobridge until 1938 when they moved to McIntosh. In 1941 they moved to Langdon, ND and remained there until 1944 when they moved to Kentucky while Charles was in the service. Following his discharge in 1946 they moved to Wessington Springs for a year before returning to Mobridge where she has since resided. While in Mobridge Virginia worked in the loan department of Citizens Bank. She also worked at Hellreigel Ready to Wear and Barker Bootery, retiring in 1978.
Virginia was a member of the Mobridge UCC Church, the Women of the Moose and the Mobridge Hospital Auxiliary. She also enjoyed crocheting and embroidering.

Virginia is survived by her daughter, Vonda Lee (Gene) Shirk of St. Louis, MO, five grandchildren, Floyd (Sharon) Shirk, Steven (Denita) Shirk, David (Debra) Shirk, Marla (Richard) Gasmann, and Shelley Shirk, seven great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles, three sisters, Evelyn Vojta, Fern Overseth, and Winifred Sevrens, and one stepbrother, Richard Phillips.
