Obituary

Prayer services for Vincent Tiger, 81, of McLaughlin, will be at 7 PM, CT, Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge with visitation starting at 5 PM. Burial will be at 12:30 PM MT, Friday, September 8, 2023, at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis. Vincent passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Vincent Vine Tiger was born August 14, 1942, to Ralph and Maggie Tiger in Corson County. Vince spent most of his younger childhood with his grandmother, Jenny Tiger. He went to school in Wakpala then he and his mother moved to Glenham, South Dakota where went to High School. Vince was a good basketball player. Many people still remember him from Glenham and Mobridge.

After graduation, Vince went to Billings, Montana to live with his older sister Sylvia Carter and family.  From there, he joined the US Navy.  He came home to Wakpala after Basic Training and then went back and was trained to be a Navy Seal. Vince made five in land into Vietnam. He was injured in Vietnam and spent time in the Navy Hospital then shipped out to the hospital ship. After healing, he was sent back into Vietnam to rejoin his Troops. Vince was honorably discharged and returned home to Wakpala then left for Cleveland. Vince went to California and spent his life there until 1985 when he returned to Standing Rock.

Vince leaves behind his children; Valerie, Terilynn, Yvonne, Dennis and Katlin Tiger, 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In 2004, he met Wilma Archambault Red Bear. They spent 19 years together until his death.

Surviving are his nephew, Harold (Kitty) Tiger & Family, Nieces; Barbabra (John) Schrempp & Family, Stacey (Brian) LeCompte & Family, Nephew, Greg Carter & Family, sister; Mary Lou Zephier & Family. Vince had many more relatives and friends too numerous to mention, sorry, but you were not intentionally forgotten.

Vice was preceded in death by his parents; Ralph and Maggie Tiger, grandparents; Jenny Tiger, Walter Tiger, grandson, Koen Carly Tiger, daughter, Tyra Tiger, son, Vince Tiger, Jr., sisters; Gloria Tiger, Sylvia Carter and Thelma Tiger, brothers; Theodore Tiger, Jerome Tiger, Rueben Tiger and numerous nieces and nephews.
