Obituary

Funeral services Victoria Desersa, 72 of LaPlant, will be at 12 PM MT, Thursday, June 9, 2011 at the LaPlant Community Center. Burial will be in the Episcopal Cemetery in LaPlant under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Victoria passed away Friday, June 3, 2011 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Victoria Donna Different Horse was born on April 5, 1939 to Matthew and Jessie (Buck) Different Horse at the Old Cheyenne Agency. She was raised and attended school at the Old Cheyenne Agency up until the flood, and then moved the family to LaPlant. Victoria met Charles George White Eagle and in 1957 they got married. From this union they had Carl (deceased) White Eagle, Carleen (Allen) Little Eagle, Ansel (Wanda) White Eagle, Francine (deceased) White Eagle, Zane (deceased) (Michelle) White Eagle, Vince (deceased) (Melva) White Eagle. In her life she was a mother to all her children.

She always enjoyed going to church and was associated with the Women's Sewing Group, and liked being involved with the headstart cooking program. She was also a part of the Policy Council. Victoria and her husband George raised all their children in LaPlant. George passed away in 1981, and in later years she met Edward Desersa, they were married in 1984. Victoria and Ed lived their lives in Pierre, Rapid City, and Rosebud until Ed's passing in 1993. Victoria moved back to LaPlant for a year before moving to Bullhead to live with her daughter Carleen in 1994. She enjoyed living there until the time of her death.

Victoria loved her grandchildren very much and enjoyed being around them. They loved their Grandma Victoria so much, they would wait on her hand and foot. Her special great grandchildren, Xander-Man Archambault, Nyssia Little Eagle, and the rest of the kids on the block.

Casketbearers will be Allen Little Eagle, Alex Little Eagle, Leslie Little Eagle, Carl White Eagle, Juan White Eagle, Jesse White Eagle, J.C. White Eagle, Jake White Eagle III

Honorary Bearers will be All Friends and Family from Cheyenne River, LaPlant, and Bullhead, Velma Little Eagle, Beverly Little Eagle, Gaylan Little Eagle, Renee Little Eagle, Cowboy Jim Little Eagle, Sua Ann Little Eagle, George Little Eagle, Susan Little Eagle, Harry Little Eagle, Ansel and Wanda Little Eagle and Family, Dani Dean, Shirley Dog Eagle, Bullhead Elderly, Mike and Patsy Bowker and Family, Dorothy Bowker and Family, Emery Different Horse, Florence Sharing, Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Employees, Rock Creek Elderly Nutrition Members, Ernastine Spotted Horse, Pearl Three Legs, Frieda DeRockbraine, Charlie Dean White Buffalo, Tony and Verdelia American Horse, Allen and Carleen Little Eagle, Lucy and Lil' Alex Archambault, Alexio Little Eagle, Brandon Bagola, Carl White Eagle, Carley White Eagle, Doris Bagola, Joyce Hollow, and any others we might have missed.
