Victor Biederstedt was born July 7, 1927 in Rural Corson County to Sam and Elizabeth (Schock) Biederstedt. He attended Roosevelt Country School until the 8th grade, when he decided to join the family farm. Victor married Irene Hertel on June 6, 1950 at the Hope Lutheran Church northeast of McLaughlin. Victor and Irene celebrated over 60 years of marriage together.

In 1994 Victor and Irene retired and moved into McLaughlin. They were members of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, where Victor served as a deacon. In 2005 they moved to Mobridge.

Victor served as a director at the McLaughlin Farmers Elevator and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Victor enjoyed woodworking so much that he made a miniature copy of his own farm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, camping, playing cards, and dancing, especially barn dances.

The grandchildren remember Grandpa Victor most for the tractor and lawnmower rides, and playing with his hammers. Victor was the only person in town who had different stockings for his oxygen tanks, that were made by his daughter Karen. She made several different ones to match the different holidays of the year. He had a great sense of humor and made a lasting impression on everyone, Victor will be greatly missed.

Victor is survived by his loving wife Irene of Mobridge, three daughters, Liane (James) Mooney, of Holdrege, NE, Karen (Jerry) Tanz of Gillette, WY, Kathy (Jim) Flora of Rapid City, son Luray (Lyn) Biederstedt of Bismarck, 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, four brothers Howard (Verna) Biederstedt of Armour, SD, Wallace (Julie) Biederstedt of Lewiston, ID, Russell (Loretta) Biederstedt of Dickinson, ND, Willard (Rita) Biederstedt of Lafayette, IN, sister; Jeredine (Al) Schneider of Lakewood, MN and sister-in-law Frances Biederstedt of Cheyenne, WY.
