Obituary

Funeral service for Verna Reeds, 62, of McLaughlin, will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the McLaughlin Blue Gym. Burial will be in the McLaughlin City Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will begin at 7:00 PM all night wake Friday, July 8, 2016 at the McLaughlin Blue Gym. Verna passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Its seems like yesterday you were with us laughing and joking around. No matter where you were you always made us feel safe and secure. It's been a hard time for us to go on without you, but remember we Love You and ow we have to be strong because all we have is each other. There's not a day that goes by we wish you were here with us. Everyday something reminds us of you because you're always with us in our hearts and souls. We'll remember your kindness and loving care you always had for all of us. WE ALL LOVE YOU, WE ALL MISS YOU, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN, REST IN PEACE.

Verna was born on October 16, 1953 in rural Fort yates, ND to Agatha Kidder and Ernest Chapman. She attended school in Fort Yates, Boarding School in Pierre, Flandreau Indian School and she received her GED.

Verna had many jobs over her lifetime, New Youth Conference Office in Fort Yates, ND at the age of 16 years old, she held various jobs in Fort Yates. Man Power Receptionist, BIA Reality Office, BIA Social Services Office, Standing Rock Tribal Courts as a Clerk of Courts, Prairie Knights Casino as Food Prep/runner, Kiddie College Day Care as a Cook. He most important job during her life time was taking care of her children and her husband Rufus.

Verna met Rufus reeds in 1980, and they were married in 2000, up until her death.

She is survived by her husband, Rufus Reeds, children, Jennifer Dobbins, Waylon Little Eagle, Sheldon Little Eagle, Vernetta Cadotte, Charley Chapman, Leonard Chapman, Rodney Reeds, Rufus Reeds Jr., Raquel Reeds-Franklin special granddaughter daughter Mya Reeds, sisters, Joanne Hogan Luta, Janice Chapman, Irene Kidder-Poor Thunder, 30 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother Agatha Kidder, father Ernest Chapman, son, Alan White Temple, Jr., twins Philomena and Phillip Chapman, sisters, Violet Grey hawk, Leona (Chepa) Chapman, brothers, Robert Marshal, Willie Jo Chapman, Victor Chapman
