Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Tillie Eastman, 86, of Ft. Yates will be at 10 AM, CT, Friday, Nov. 3, 2017 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ft. Yates. Burial will be in the Kenel Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be at 6 PM Thursday with a wake Rosary at 7 PM. Tillie passed away Friday, October 27, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND surrounded by her family.

Tillie was born November 7, 1929 at home south of the big hill to James and Louise Alkire.

She attended school in Fort Yates until going to boarding school in South Dakota; she then moved to Aberdeen where she started her career in the medical field. She later returned to Fort Yates and worked at the hospital. She met and married Delmer Eastman; they enjoyed traveling and lived in South Dakota, Oregon and Arizona.
She moved her family back to Fort Yates in 1979 and resumed working at the Indian Health Service, until she retired after 57 years. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with family, going to the casino, and playing games on her Nintendo. Tillie loved her family. Her grandchildren Brian James, Zachary, Jacob, Davlyn, Abigale, Alexander & great grandchildren, Amara, Jalia, Kendrick, & Ezekiel all gave her joy. Her greatest gifts to all were, her smile, love of life, and stories.

She is survived by her daughters' Beverly (Ernie) Fischer, Ann (Lyndon) Old Elk, Mary Helen (Joe) Foote, Jolene (Alan) Spang, Patricia Eastman, Cathy Lone Fight, Claudia Hoyt, Marlys Gonzalez, Valerie Eagle Shield, sister, Effie Antell, her god-child Linda Louise and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Samuel, William, Alvina, Marcella, Betty, Leonard, Ruth and Basil; and her special four-legged friend Charlie.
