Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas Halsey, age 53, of Ft. Yates will be 10:00 AM Friday, July 12, 2013 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Ft. Yates, ND. Burial at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Thursday starting at 5PM with a rosary at 7PM at the church. Thomas passed away Saturday July 6, 2013 at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.
Thomas Halsey was born in Fort Yates, North Dakota on November 16, 1959 to Philip Halsey and Florence Iron Necklace Halsey. He graduated from Standing Rock High Scholl in 1977. He joined the National Guard after graduation, and then joined the United States Marine Corp in 1978 and was honorably discharged in 1981.
After returning home he attended and graduated from United Tribes Technical College. He worked several years as an electrician, and then attended Sitting Bull College and received a B.S.
Thomas is survived by his two children; Ian Scott Halsey and Tira Halsey and two grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters; Cora (Joe) Miner of Eagle Butte, and Laura (Dewey) Austin of Aberdeen, SD. One brother; Joseph Halsey of Dallas, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Philip and Flossie, one brother; Larry, Cowboy and his sister Flora, and one niece; Lee Marie.
