Funeral services for Theresa May (Tattoo) Cadotte, 78, Wakpala, SD will be 11:00 AM,CT, Monday, September 27, 2010. Visitation will be Sunday at the funeral home from 3:00 - 4:30, and then at the Community Center in Wakpala at 5:30 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. Burial will be at the St. Bede's Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Theresa passed away September 21, 2010 at St. Alexius Hospital, Bismarck, ND.

Theresa was born on August 13, 1932 in Fort Yates, ND. Her parents were James and Melda (Yellow) Tattoo. She was raised in and lived in Wakpala her whole life. She attended St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, SD and Marty High School.

Upon her return to Wakpala, she married Tyrus Cadotte. Together they raised 10 children on their ranch, where they raised cattle and horses for over 50 years. Theresa later moved to Wakpala where she took up gardening and canning, all the while caring for her children. Theresa worked for a number of years at Wakpala Head start and the nutrition for the elderly, beginning in the late seventies. Later in life she took in and raised her daughters 7 children. She always had small animals she cared for and she liked working on puzzles, and taking her grandkids to bingo. Off and on she took in some of her other grandchildren. She had a soft spot and loved visiting all the children who came to visit. She could often be found visiting her friends at the nutrition center and at the community center. Everyone appreciated her home cooking, which she loved to do. Her door was open to almost anyone who stopped to visit. Her radio and coffee was always on during these visits as she made everyone feel welcome in her home. Charlie Pride was her all time favorite musician. She believed in her Christian faith and attended the Catholic Church faithfully every Sunday.

Theresa is survived by Judy, Jeff, Candace, Anthony "TC", Tyrone (Jolene), Bernard (Roxanne), Mary Beth (Amanda) Cadotte all of Wakpala, SD. She raised as sons and daughters, Ronnie Moran of Wakpala, Amber Marshall of Eagle Butte, Vanessa Two Lance of Rapid City, Craig Cadotte, Bismarck, ND Tyrall Cadotte of Sioux Falls, Tyrese Cadotte, Theresa Cadotte, Edward Cadotte, Shauna Cadotte, Shiloh and Sheyenne Cadotte all of Wakpala, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James & Melda Tattoo, husband Tyrus Cadotte, sons; Samuel Cadotte, daughters; Brenda Kay Cadotte and Darlene Cadotte; and one grandson Bradley Cadotte.

Casketbearers will be Ed Cadotte, Ridge Cadotte, Tyrus Cadotte, Jeff Cadotte Jr., Preston Cadotte, Tyrone Cadotte Jr., Colton Cadotte, Teddy Iron Cloud, Jake Eagle, Edmund Fast Horse, Brian Silk.
