Graveside services for Thelma Traversie, 68, of Whitehorse will be 2:00 PM Friday, December 4, 2020 at St. Luke's Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the cemetery. Meeting at HWY 212 and 63 North to process to the cemetery. Thelma passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at the Avantara Nursing Home in Pierre. Arrangements are pending with Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Thelma married Max September 16th, 1973. They lived in different areas of South Dakota but White Horse was always home. They just celebrated their 47th anniversary. Thelma passed away with Max by her side. Thelma had one daughter Dorothy Talks of Eagle Butte SD and together Thelma and Max raised one daughter LShonna (Trung) Nguyen of Sioux Falls, also one grandkid Justine Talks of Dupree SD and one great grandson Jesse Talks Jr of White Horse. She had seven grandkids Iris Talks, Jesse Talks Sr, Codi Talks, Janessa and Quinn Eagle Horse, Shondey and Shandyn Nguyen and many great grandkids that she loved and adored. Thelma was very kind and caring, she always had coffee made waiting for company to stop by and visit which many people did every morning so she looked forward to it. Her nurturing ways led her to be foster mother and all her foster kids became apart of her family. Thelma was the happiest when she was surrounded by her grandkids or spending time with her daughter and family in Sioux Falls, she loved playing bingo and enjoyed doing crafts when she was able. Thelma worked as a cook for the Eagle Butte Daycare and Walter Miner Law Enforcement for a number of years.
