Funeral services for Tanya Ward, age 66, of Eagle Butte will be at 11 AM MT Saturday, January 15, 2011 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte. Burial will be in the Eagle Butte Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be from 7 -11 PM MT Friday at the church. Tanya passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital.

Tanya Ward was born on June 21, 1944 to Mark and Genevive (Maran) Ward at the Old Cheyenne Agency, SD. She worked in education all of her life. She was the President of the Cheyenne River Community College from 1995-1998. She also lived in Washington DC where she worked as a Federal Program Specialist as a grant writer. She started working at headstart in Red Scaffold before going on to get her teacher degree.

She is survived by one sister, Paddy Aungie of Eagle Butte, one nephew, Mark Aungie of Eagle Butte, two great nephews and three great nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents, uncle, aunts and cousins.

Casketbearers are Robert Walters, James Lightfield, Mark Peacock, Emmanuel Red Bear, Donald Metcalf, Dave Hunys, Greg Garon, John Maran and Lyman Hump.
