Mass of Christian Burial for Tad V. Walking Elk, 45 will be 11:00 AM Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Assumption of The Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Interment will be in the Kenel Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation Friday July 31, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the church with a vigil service at 7PM. Tad passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at Sanford Medical Center.

Tad Vincent Walking Elk, (Sungwatogla Inyaka, Wild Horse Running) son of Elaine St. John (Left Hand) and the late Virgil Walking Elk began his journey to the spirit world on Monday July 27, 2015 at the Sanford Medical Center, Bismarck North Dakota.

Tad was born on March 7, 1970 at the Fort Yates North Dakota hospital and was a member of the Standing Rock Nation.

Tad attended the Standing Rock Elementary and High Schools, worked for various ranching and farming families throughout Standing Rock. He was an avid fisherman and carpenter. Tad played basketball in his junior and senior high school; he was a firefighter, horse rider and an all around good guy. Met in 2003 Tad met Tedi Claymore and from this union Sydney was born in 2005. He loved Sydney with all that he was and was proud of all of her accomplishments and the young lady she is to become.

Tad will be missed by many people throughout the Standing Rock and surrounding communities, for his talent of craftsmanship and his ability to make a person laugh. His daughter Syd and his mama especially will miss him.
