Funeral services for Sylvia Blue Coat, 85, Pierre, SD, will 11:30 am CDT Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Kesling Funeral Home. Interment will be in Black Hills National Cemetery, Friday, June 24, 2016 under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Visitation will Wednesday, June 22, 2016 begin at 5:00 PM to with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Sylvia passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Golden Living Center in Pierre.

Sylvia Blue Coat was born on September 2, 1930, in White Horse, SD, to Thomas and Jennie (Horn) Makes Him First. She attended the Old Agency School in her younger years. As an adult she spent her time as a homemaker, dedicated to caring for her family.

Sylvia loved to watch her soaps and spend time with her daughters and grandchildren. She would always spend time with the kids watching their favorite programs. She also loved anything to do with horses. She had many pictures, statues, and figurines.

Sylvia is survived by her daughters, Verda Blue Coat and Myra C. Johnson; 9 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Severt Blue Coat; and her parents, Thomas and Jennie Makes Him First.
