Funeral Services for Sylvan "Marvin" Strongheart, 66, of Mobridge, SD, are 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church of Wakpala, SD. Burial is at Wakpala Mormon Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD. All night wake is 5:00 p.m., with a wake service at 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the Wakpala Community Center. Sylvan passed away Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Marvin was born to Clifford and Geraldine (Gabe) Strongheart on February 6, 1949 at Old Cheyenne Agency Eagle Butte, SD. He grew up on the Gabe Homestead South of GRC, one of 10 children. He was a diesel mechanic, welder by trade, but did a lot of other things, from the oil fields of Oklahoma to driving from Canada to Texas. He attended school in Wakpala, Mobridge at Pierre Indian School, Medora, CA where he learned his trade and GED.

He was stricken with an illness that he couldn't shake, he fought the journey the best he could, this battle he didn't win, and never complained about his pain.

He married Cindy (Bleyle) in Hulett, Wyo on January 10, 1998 at the Rodeo Bar. She was his rock, she shared this last journey with him and never left his side. Their love was an never ending love story.

He leaves behind 9 children, 4 stepchildren, one Hunka daughter. They made his eyes open and shine and put a smile on his face at the end, that was heart warming.
