Funeral services for Steven LeftHand, age 67, of Wakpala will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. Burial will be in the Bone Club Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from 4-10 PM at the Wakpala Community Center. Steven passed away Thursday, May 31, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Mobridge, SD.

Steven Left Hand was born July 3, 1944 to Harriett Rough Surface and Ambrose Left Hand in old Kenel. He went to grade school in Fort Yates, ND and finished in Pierre, SD. He received his GED and relocated to Denver, CO. to receive his Mechanic Certificate. He moved back to South Dakota and worked in numerous places mostly with Donald Schott, making many friends along the way.

He moved to Wakpala in 1981 and married Rebecca Bone Club in 1983. He has no children of his own, but when he married Rebecca he took her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as his own. He has one very special granddaughter and three very special great-grandchildren; Melissa Buffalo, Caitlin Plenty Chief, Alexander Hollow, Wakiya Luta Hoksila Plenty Chief.

Steven's hobbies included fishing, hunting, chopping wood, working on cars and spending time with family. During the holidays he enjoyed cooking or grilling and sharing laughs with the family. He was always willing to help other people in anyway that he could. He will be greatly missed.

Steven is survived by his wife Rebecca Left Hand, Maurena Plenty Chief and children, Violet Plenty Chief and children, Minnie Plenty Chief and children, Lance Plenty Chief and children, all of Wakpala, SD., Emerson Plenty Chief, Mobridge, SD, 29 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous aunties and uncles.

His living family: Gloria Left Hand of Mobridge, Isabell and Ruth both of Montana, Mary (Spring) Hagen of Mobridge, Alvin Left Hand of Fargo, ND, Clifford (Buddy) Rough Surface, and all other relatives to numerous to name.

He was preceded in death by his parents Harriet & Ambrose Left Hand, Don & Roselyn Sam, Rena & John LaFramboise, Minerva & Art Four Bear, Phillip Farrell, Jr., Benny Left Hand, Harley Rough Surface, Wayne Crow Feather, and Esther Silk.
