Funeral services for Stanley Rough Surface age 78 of McLaughlin 10:00 AM Saturday, June 25, 2016 at McLaughlin Blue Gym. Burial will be in the All Nations Veteran's Cemetery rural McLaughlin under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Military honors will be provided by Little Eagle Veterans Post 239. Stanley passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at his home.

Stanley was born July 5, 1937 at Old Kenel, SD to Samuel and Esther (Demery) Rough Surface.
He attended school in Wakpala before joining the US Navy.
Stanley served in the US Navy for four years and then three years in the US Army.
He enjoyed mechanical challenges and reading mystery novels and took part in these activities whenever he had time. Stanley was a solitary person and did not like to be intrusive. He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing older country and western songs.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his brother Clifford Rough Surface,, nephew Samuel and (Alberta) Rough Surface, Elaine Rough Surface-Silbernagel (Pius) Henry ( Carol) Rough Surface, Margaret Rough Surface-Yellow (Morris Yellow Sr.), Clara Rough Surface-Oxford (Ron), Samuel B. Rough Surface III (Twila), Robin Rough Surface (Carol), Lillian Maeste, Caroline Condon, David Tiger, Theresa Shillingstad, Pearl Reiss, Doris McGhee, Celeste Laundreaux, Darrell Silk, Jack Silk, all nieces and nephews too numerous to mention.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Abraham, Samuel, Daniel, Calvin, sisters, Henritta Burschi, Minnie Tedrow, Delphine Rough Surface, Noramae Tiger-Silk, Harley Rough Surface, Marcus Rough Surface, Rory Rough Surface, Morris Yellow Jr., Pauly Rough Surface-Fontanelle, Alex Rough Surface White Bull, Candace Rough Surface Chance Rough Surface.
