Funeral services for Stanley "Stan" Bauer, age 67, of Herreid will be at 10:30 AM, Thursday, June 14, 2012 at the Herreid Baptist Church. Pastor Brandon Jones will be officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be start at 5 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM Wednesday at the church. Stanley passed away Monday, June 11, 2012 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck.

Stanley C. Bauer was born on July 27, 1944 to Clarence and Lizzie (Huber) Bauer in Eureka, SD. He attended school in Herreid and graduated in 1963. On September 6, 1963 he married Joanne Moser at the Herreid Baptist Church. Stan worked for Perman Elevator and Sackreiter Construction for a time before moving to Washington in 1966 to work for Boeing. In 1971 they moved back to Herreid and he began working for the SD Department of Transportation. He retired in 2007 after 37 years. During his retirement years Stan and Joanne enjoyed their winters down in South Padre, TX.

On July 11, 1993 he became a member of the Herreid Baptist Church. He would later serve as a Trustee at the church. Stan was a member of the Jaycee's, the Herreid Volunteer Fire Department and the Ambulance Crew. He was also a CPR instructor. He was proud of his involvement in AA since 1977. Stan enjoyed fishing, golfing, corvetteing, and playing pinochle and shuffleboard. Stan will always be remembered for his sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne of Herreid, two daughters, Sherri (John) Rystrom of Lead, SD and their daughter, Madison; and Sheila (Dan) Peterson of Gillette, WY and their children, Derrick Peterson of Pollock, SD and Valerie and Austin Peterson; one son, Shawn (Jessica) Bauer of Harrisburg, SD and their children, Boston, Canyon, Dawson, and Avery; two brothers, Terry (Kathy) Bauer of Herreid and Barry (Jan) Bauer of Detroit Lakes, MN and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Elia.
