On July 24, 2018 the Lord came and took our loving, caring, and hardworking mother. Shirley Oxner (Idler) went to join her husband, Dale, Father and Mother, Reynold and Mathilda Idler, her in-laws, Ed and Rose Oxner, brother Bob Idler and son in law Lou Mucci.
Shirley was born on a small farm south west of Selby, SD. She graduated in 1943. She married Dale one year later and proceeded to raise four children. She was so thoughtful and caring. While the kids worked she washed clothes, cleaned house, barns and cooked – three meals a day – breakfast, dinner, and supper. Meals were served at 7:00 AM, 12:00 Noon, 6 PM, on the dot! At first we weren't that impressed, but realize now, we miss her cooking every day! She worked so hard trying to make everyone happy and safe. She gave us our freedom and disciplined us when necessary.
Shirley was active in the Extension Club, Jaycettes, church choir, bell choir, women's fellowship and held offices in all of these organizations. She was involved in saddle club, bowling, and golfing. She also sold real estate. Shirley enjoyed the sports, music and 4-H with her family. On the farm, she raised chickens, milked cows, and fed pigs. Living without electricity, no indoor bathroom, no running water, one car and four kids! She survived and persevered for 93 years. Rest in peace mom – You did a GREAT job!
Embrace your new home mom. You will see the green grass, flowers blooming and you will be running in the fields of glory. God Bless You!
She will be missed by her four children, Jerry (Betty) Oxner of Selby, Peggy Mucci of Roseville, CA, Bill (Carol) Oxner of Tioga, ND, Rick (Brenda) Oxner of Black Hawk, SD, 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren.
