Funeral services for Shirlee Ann Burnette, 79, of Selby will be at 2 PM, Monday, November 1, 2021, at Kesling Funeral Home in Mobridge. Burial will be at the Bangor Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Shirlee passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at her home.

Shirlee Ann (Brockel) Burnette was born on November 9, 1941, in Mobridge, the youngest of two daughters born to Emil and Clara (Berg) Brockel. She graduated from Selby High School in 1959, where she was a cheerleader for several years.

After graduation, Shirlee went to modeling school in Minneapolis and worked at the Mobridge Hospital and Simons Insurance.

During a blizzard on Valentine's Day 1967, she married Dale Burnette. To this union three children were born, Amber, Kipp and Tiara. They made their home on the farmstead that Dale had grown up in outside of Selby.

Shirlee had a passion for music, reading, and game shows. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and was generous and thoughtful with everyone she knew. Her family was always a priority, and she supported her children in every sporting or other school interest. Shirlee enjoyed traveling, and she and Dale visited almost all the states west of the Mississippi River. They both enjoyed golfing and traveled to many courses in the Black Hills area, in addition to surrounding courses. Shirlee was also on several bowling teams in Selby and enjoyed throwing darts in Akaska.

Shirlee is survived by her husband, Dale of Selby, children, Wade of Appleton, WI, Amber of Columbia Heights, MN, Kipp of Pryor Lake, MN, and Tiara of Valley Village, CA, and four grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
