A Celebration of Life service for Sharon Sjomeling age 64, Pollock will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Pollock Lutheran Church. Inurnment in Dale Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, April 14, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a prayer service to follow at Kesling Funeral Home. Sharon passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at Mobridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Mobridge.
Sharon Sjomeling, 64, died April 11, 2017. She passed in her sleep at the Mobridge Nursing home.
Sharon was born in the Mobridge Hospital August 11, 1952 to Glen and Mary Ann (Backhaus) Sjomeling. She lived her grade school years on a farm south of Pollock and attended the Gale country grade school. The family moved to Pollock and Sharon attended and graduated from Pollock High School in 1970.
After graduating Sharon found work as a waitress until she landed in the hotel industry. She spent several years managing and then became a regional manager for a small Hotel Management company. During this time, she lived around the US in Winnemucca, NE; Shreveport, Louisiana; Rapid City and Aberdeen, SD. After leaving the hotel business, she decided to head home to Pollock and opened Sharon's Café. In recent years, she had worked several odd jobs and then settled into a home life. Pets were very important to Sharon as she always had several dogs and cats throughout her life time.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father Mary Ann and Glenn Sjomeling.
She is survived by brother Glenn Jr, significant other Barb Erickson and his children Wade and Amber Sjomeling; her sister Jeanne Mathews, brother in-law Michael Mathews, nieces Carrie Neumiller, Andrea and husband Mike Woods, children Emma, Michael, Bevin, Killian and Piper; Brooke Smith and husband Nathon, their children Josie, Quentin and Cannon; and her brother Olaf with his wife Jennifer, children Darby and Jordan Sjomeling.
Sharon will be laid to rest in the Dale Cemetery next to her beloved grandmother Lois Backhaus.
