Traditional Funeral Services for Shace Looking Horse, 31 of Rapid City, SD will be held at 10 am mst on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at the CRST Bingo Hall in Eagle Butte, SD. Burial will be at the Looking Horse Family Cemetery under the direction of the Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Family and friends will meet at the 4 mile junction to process to the CRST Bingo Hall on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at 4 pm mst, for an all night wake service beginning at 7pm mst. Shace passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
Family and friends are invited to come together in remembrance, sharing stories, hugs, and the love that Shace so freely gave.
Obituary for Shace Wayne Looking Horse
Shace Wayne Looking Horse, Tatanka Iyankala "Running Buffalo", began his life on May 13, 1994, he began his journey to star nation, on August 5, 2025, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness, warmth, and love. Shace touched countless lives with his gentle, fun loving spirit.
Shace grew up in Green Grass along the Moreau River where he loved to swim and was always ready to talk and visit! Shace always had an inquiring mind and wanted to know everything and learn all he could. He was blessed with the gift of "gab" and a witty sense of humor to match! He attended school at Cheyenne Eagle Butte School starting from Head Start all the way to graduating in 2014. Shace then attended college at the Oglala Lakota College for a year and talked of returning to finish.
Shace enjoyed camping with his family, friends, and relatives and always looked forward to the annual family trip to Gray Horn Butte. He loved spending his time with his nieces and nephews, he was a good uncle and never passed up an opportunity to make them laugh. Shace also enjoyed cleaning and could often be found cooking and cleaning at various times of the day and night.
Shace will be remembered not only for his caring nature and ever-ready smile, but also for the meaningful words he shared recently with family and friends: "A friendly reminder—always hug and tell them you love them. You never know when that's the last time you hug them, and the last 'I love you' you ever get. Until we meet again."
Holding him in their hearts are his mom Gladys, sisters Jonni Guerrero-Arpan, Jimi Blue Coat & Alex Looking Horse. Brothers; Craig Clown, Edward Brave Thunder, & Dewey Looking Horse. Nieces; Carmen Brave Thunder, Chaela Brave Thunder-Carranza, Maya Looking Horse, Amanda Greaves, & Rozzy White Bull. Nephews; Kamden Clown, Kase Lawrence, Mason Arpan, Khaos Looking Horse, Zayden Looking Horse & Ezra Looking Horse.
Hunka Sisters; Catherine Lawrence, Charlene Hollow Horn Bear, Michelle Moran-Walking Elk, Michelle Santos-West & Feather Stranger. Hunka Brother; Juan Garrett, his Aunts & Uncles, and his family & friends too numerous to mention.
Those who embraced him in star nation are his Dad, John Moon, his brothers Josh "Moon" Guerrero & TJ Looking Horse, Uncle; Steven Wayne, his grandparents, & his best friends, Jasmine Phillips & Courtney Silk.
Shace's legacy will live on in those who were lucky to know him, and his reminder to cherish our loved ones will continue to resonate. He will be deeply missed and forever loved. Until we meet again. Toksa Ake'
