Mass of Christian Burial for Samuel Rough Surface, 32, of Kenel will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Kenel Catholic Church of Assumption. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM, Monday, December 22, 2025, at Kenel Catholic Church of Assumption. Samuel passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck.

Samuel Bernard Rough Surface IV was born June 15, 1993, at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, North Dakota to Twila and Samuel Bernard Rough Surface III. He lived in Kenel, SD all of his life. He was a simple man who loved his family, relatives and friends very much. He loved working hard and always found job daily helping someone. Samuel loved playing horseshoes. He pitched everyday if he could.

Samuel also known as (Lil Son) or (Snazz) liked listening to music and visiting. Samuel grew up with the Wells-Holy Bear children as neighbors. As they grew, he became sweethearts with Lorna. They were blessed with two girls, Jazzilyn and Charlie. He loved his girls dearly.

He leaves behind his siblings, Rosanna Rough Surface, Ted Rough Surface, Homer Rough Surface-Eagle, Leonard Brown, Elliot Blue Coat, Lorena Brown, Loren Brown, Adam Rough Surface and Cody Zephier, uncles, Alton (Donna) Summers, Richard Summers, Robin Rough Surface, aunties, Margaret (Morris) Yellow, Elaine Pius Silbernagel.
