Sage Jacob Thomas was born on February 15, 1991 to Jack Thomas of Cannonball, ND and Thomasine (Baker) Shaw of Swift Bird, SD. Sage attended Cannonball Head Start, Standing Rock Elementary, St. Bernards Indian Mission and Standing Rock High School.
Sage grew up in the country near Cannonball, ND most of his life where he was a cowboy from the start. His first word was "horse" and claimed he was part horse. He went on his first memorial ride to Birdtail Canada when he was only 4 years old. When he was 3 years old he taught himself to saddle a horse by saddling a goat. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing and he loved classic cars. In high school his Dad gave him a classic 69 Malibu Chevelle which he loved! Sage liked to bead, sing ceremony and round dance songs. Sage was also a talented artist. If there was any kind of leather around the house it was guaranteed he would be using it for some of his arts and crafts and making regalia. He was a traditional dancer and participated in the Sundance with Wakpala Hu in Standing Rock. He loved his traditional ways and had respect for all his elders and always properly greeted his relatives.
He was so loving and a gentle giant! He had the greatest "Indian" humor and loved making people laugh hawduh. He made relatives with a lot of people and had a loving and gentle heart. He loved working side by side with his dad as he was the first cowboy he ever looked up to.

Sage loved his Poppa Tommy and loved to help him around the ranch. Sage's sense of humor and "off in the head-ness" can be directly traced back to his Poppa.
Sage loved going to rodeo's and participated in the bull riding event.
Sage was currently residing in Newtown, ND with his favorite Uncle Sonny Bear, doing what he loved, breaking horses and being a cowboy.
