IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Russell Boyd
Anderson
July 9, 1934 – September 5, 2022
Russell "Boyd" Anderson, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 5th, 2022 with family by his side. Passing away on Labor Day seemed fitting for the man who truly knew what a hard day's work was.
Boyd was born on July 9, 1934 to Russell Dwight and Mary Elizabeth Anderson in their quaint home on the Moreau River.
He worked at home on the family farm until the age of 17. He then enlisted in the Army where he spent two years serving our country during the Korean War.
On May 20, 1956, he married Vallee Rae Malloy. To this union four children were born, Duane, Larry "Gus", LeeAnn, and Patrick "Jake".
After a number of years of working in the construction industry, Boyd began Anderson Construction in 1966. His love for this trade, a pile of dirt and those big yellow "toys" kept him working and running the company into his 80's.
A collector of many things, Boyd had a passion for coins, guns, a good auction, and "fishing." Although he appeared a little rough around the edges, and many of his favorite words had four letters, he truly had a kind soul. He never hesitated to help someone in need and never once expected anything in return. He once picked up a man stranded on the side of the road with a broken down car. Without a second thought he helped the man get his car to a mechanic, drove the man home several hundred miles away, and then proceeded to deliver the repaired car to the man several weeks later.
His kind heart extended to animals as well. Like his wife, he was an avid animal lover and would never turn away an animal from his loving home.
Boyd was preceded in death by his wife, Vallee Rae, parents Rusty and Mary, brothers Gordon and Richard, and sisters Rosannah and Sharon.
He is survived by his brother John Anderson, children: Duane (Julie) Anderson, Larry (Kathy) Anderson, LeeAnn (Bill) Collins, Patrick (Cassy Oviatt) Anderson, grandchildren: Ray Michael Anderson, Shannon Anderson, Kade Anderson, Hali Olson, Tanner Triscori,
and Ashley Even, as well as 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Community Hall in Timber Lake, SD on Saturday September 10, 2022 at 11:00 am MST followed by a luncheon. Viewing from 10:00 – 11:00. Burial will be at the Timber Lake Cemetery.
