Funeral services for Ruben R. Speidel, age 92 of Mobridge will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 16, 2019 at Kesling Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Friday, November 15, 2019 beginning at 5:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the funeral Home. Ruben passed away Friday, November 8, 2019 at the Mobridge Regional Hospital.

Ruben Speidel was born on January 15, 1927 to Mathias Speidel and Emma (Gutschmidt) Speidel at home 13 ½ miles northeast of McLaughlin. He went to the Little Hertel grade school through the 8 ^th grade and went onto graduate high school at McLaughlin Public School in 1944. He worked with his father on the family farm and eventually took over the farm. On June 5 ^th , 1949 he married Deloris Bauer and they had two daughters, Joyce Elaine and Janice Marie.

Ruben enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed bowling and called square dancing. He was very active in the community and church and held many offices. He was county commissioner for 12 years and was on the elevator board for many years. He very much enjoyed farming and farmed until he was 84 years old. He loved working on his computer being a self-taught person for better than 40 years starting with the Commador 64. He and his wife Deloris moved to Mobridge in November of 2017 and enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens for dinner and playing pinochle. Ruben passed away at the Mobridge Regional Hospital on November 8, 2019.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parent, 2 brothers, Arthur died in infancy and Edwin, and sister, Violet Hertel.

He is survived by his wife, Deloris, daughters, Joyce and Janice (Bud) Anderson. 5 granddaughters, 10 great grandchildren.

Ruben will be remembered by and for all of the lives he has touched.
