Celebration of Life for Royce Massingill, age 70 of Glenham will be 11:00 AM Friday, November 22, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Selby, SD. Royce passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 at his home in Selby. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge, SD.

On Sunday, November 17, 2019 Royce Lonnell Massingill, passed away at the age of 70 at his home in Selby, South Dakota. Royce Massingill was born December 6 ^th , 1948 in Dallas, Texas, to Royce F. and Peggy (Lewis) Massingill.

After a first career as an electrician, Royce Massingill joined the Dallas Police Department in 1983. He retired as a senior corporal and field training officer in 2001. Royce loved protecting and serving his community, and he was proud to be a part of the police department. He was a loving and giving man that cared deeply for his family and others. He was a generous person who could be counted on to help those who were vulnerable and in need around him while also working for justice. Royce was a Packers fan, loved country music and long road trips to see family, and always enjoyed watching movies with his kids and grandsons.  He was the best of fathers, the best of men, and will be missed forever and loved always.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Elizabeth Jassmann Massingill; his five children, Paul (Amber), Summer, Emily, Joshua, and Jasmine; his three grandsons, Paul Joshua, Gabriel, and Michael. He is also survived by his father, Royce Massingill, and his two brothers, Larry (Beverly) and Woody (Debra) Massingill and their families.

Royce was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Zachary, his step-mother, Jean Massingill, brothers, Tony Zachary, Mark Zachary.

Royce believed in giving to great causes. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made in honor of Royce to the Heifer Project at heifer.org.
