Funeral services for Ronald Rossow, 80, of Herreid will be at 10:30 AM, Friday, October 1, 2021, at the Herreid Baptist Church. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be at 6 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM Thursday at the church. Ronald passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021, at the Avera Community Health Services in Eureka.

Ronald Eugene Rossow was born on October 29, 1940, to Ernest and Leah (Schmidt) Rossow at Eureka, South Dakota. Ronald       attended Herreid High School. Ronald joined the U.S. Army in February, 1959. He was honorable discharged November, 1960.

On April 27, 1959 he married Donna Berndt in Herreid. They returned home to Herreid upon his discharge from the Army. They remained in Herreid until 1961, when they moved to the farm where they lived   until his passing.

Ronald enjoyed raising and riding horses. They raised colts every year for the past forty years. The last colts were born in 2020.

Ronald was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse         Association, past member of the Herreid Jaycees, and he also enjoyed attending auction sales.

He is survived by his wife Donna of 62 years, children: Colleen (Dale) Rueb, Herreid, SD; Carmen (Wayne) Jankord, Castlewood, SD; Kevin (Jody) Rossow, Glenwood City, WI; Kim (Julie) Rossow, Herreid, SD; Kay (Dan) Whaley, Houlton, WI; Carin (Tim) Schmitz, Milbank, SD; Kyle Rossow, Herreid, SD; 23 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Judy (Archie) Doering, Marjorie (Ken) Pudwill, Joy (Jim) Goehring, Steve (Wanda) Berndt, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by son, Kendall (Ben) in 2011, parents   Ernest in 1989 and Leah in 2000; father-in-law Labolt Berndt, 1993, and mother-in-law Martha Berndt 2018; sister and brother-in-law Alvena and Norman Vojta and brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Shelley Rossow.
