Funeral services for Rodney G. Renville age 60 of Selfridge, ND will be 11:00 AM CT October 1, 2016 at the Selfridge School. Interment will be in the Selfridge City Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. All night wake will be September 30, 2016 beginning at 5:00 PM at the Selfridge School. Rodney passed away, Sunday, September 25, 2016 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND.
Rodney Galen Renville Sr. was born on September 1, 1956 in Rapid City, South Dakota to Tina Renville and Mariom Tweedy.
He attended school in Sisseton, Howard and Alcester, SD. Rodney was a fancy dancer for several years and earned numerous first place titles. His grandma told him to stop fancy dancing and that he belonged in the church instead.
He read the Scripture readings in church quite often. Rodney started playing the guitar and singing when he was 12 years old and continued to play guitar and sing until he died. He had his own rock 'n' roll band for 10 years, but quit playing rock 'n' roll music and started writing and singing gospel songs and singing songs for the Lord.
He attended electrical school for 2 years and became a Union Electrician licensed journeyman in North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota, until the year 2000. Rodney also worked as a welder for 8 years.
Rodney's oldest daughter Kay was born in 1980. He married Lisa Demery and had 9 children, Tashenna, Jr., Shania and Sheyenne, Hershal, Teasha, Jacob, Zechariah and Daniel. Lisa died in June of 2009. He met Peggy Weber, shortly after Lisa died and married her.
Rodney loved to teach people about the Lord, loved to sing and write songs and play the guitar. He prayed for people frequently and had a powerful influence on their lives. He led many people to the Lord. Rodney loved his family and all of his children. We will miss him along with his great sense of humor and kindness.
Rodney is survived by his wife Peggy, and 10 children, Kaye, Jr., Tashenna, Shania and Sheyenne, Hershal, Teasha, Jacob, Zechariah, and Daniel, his 5 brothers; Romeo, Lonie, Creighton, Brian and Curt along with numerous relative's aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren.
Rodney was preceded in death by his mother Tina Renville, father Marion Tweeds, sisters; LaQuetta and Connie and granddaughter Candace fox and several other relatives.
