Mass of Christian Burial for Rodney Ironshield, age 30, will be 2:00 pm, Monday, February 14, 2011 at the Catholic Church of Assumption in Kenel, SD. Burial will be at the Church Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home, Mobridge. An all night wake will begin at 4:00 pm on Sunday with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Kenel Community Center. Rodney passed away Sunday, February 6, 2011 in Mobridge.

Rodney A. "Pablo", "Rodkilla" "Honest To Rod" Ironshield was born in Ft. Yates, ND on August 13, 1980 to Roger & Dana Ironshield of McLaughlin, SD. His parents divorced less than a year after his birth and he spent his babyhood with his mother and sister in Pierre, SD. In his 6th year his mother moved them to Aberdeen, SD where he attended 1st grade to the 6th grade. Rodney participated in every sport available, excelled in basketball and made many friends. Life got complicated for his family and they meandered west, rock and rolled this way and that, lived wild and free here and there, somehow they touched down on Standing Rock Territory and settled in Kenel, South Dakota where his mothers family is originally from.

Rodney attended high school in Fort Yates, ND for a few years then opted to join job corps in Nemo, SD because, you know, life is complicated. He left there and joined job corps in Minot, ND where he graduated with a certificate in nursing (because it was the easiest training they had). He went on to work construction, oil drilling, bartending, store clerk, ranch hand with a few attempts at college thrown in every now and then.

Rodney was known through out his life as an excellent artist. He amazed us with his talent and made us laugh with his humor. He made friends wherever he went, broke hearts wherever he left, and we know he's smiling down at us, knowing we will all remember him on Valentines Day! Rest in Paradise Sweetheart.

Rodney's family is his mother Dana LaFramboise, of Kenel, sister, Amber D. Ironshield of Kenel, uncles; Lyle LaFramboise of Copper Center, Alaska, Tony LaFramboise of McLaughlin, SD, Protus LaFramboise of Wakpala, SD, Cedric LaFramboise of Montana, Aunts; Sissy LaFramboise of Mobridge, Melinda LaFramboise of Sioux Falls, SD, Terrilynn LaFramboise of Utah, and Alsace LaFramboise of Albuquerque, NM many many cousins, 2nd & 3rd cousins, many aunts once removed, many grandparents once removed.
