Roberta entered the spirit world on February 22, 2022, at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck, ND with her daughter Rikki Lynn Ramsey-Himel, her son Shane Ramsey and her grandchildren by her side.

Roberta was born in Fort Yates, ND to Robert Marshall and Marcella Marshall (Shooting Bear). Roberta grew up in Kenel, SD and Kenel was always home for her which is why she requested her final resting place to be in Kenel, SD with her mom and dad.

Roberta graduated from Standing Rock High School in 1970. She then attended University of Mary in Bismarck, ND and went on and attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND. From there she furthered her education at United Tribes Technical College and graduated with a Human Services certificate.

Roberta began working for United Tribes Technical College as the Property and Supply Technician from 1973-1980. Then went on to work for the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe as the Property and Supply Technician from 1980-2015 and retired.

In 1974 Roberta met Richard Ramsey and on December 24, 1980, they decided to make it official and became married. From this marriage they had Jayne Most, Carole Marshall, Joseph John "JJ" Ramsey, Shane Ramsey, and Rikki Lynn Ramsey-Himel.

Roberta's children and grandchildren were her pride and joy as she not only raised her children but also her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren compete in sports. She was a big supporter of the Standing Rock Warriors and would travel to their games and was especially proud when her boy "Bull" made it to the ND State Class B basketball tournament in 2011. She was also proud of her sons Shane and JJ for competing and in exceling in wrestling and boxing and especially proud of them becoming Golden Gloves champions. Roberta raised her children and grandchildren on the powwow trail and enjoyed watching them all dance and sing and was very proud of them. Roberta loved all her children and was proud of each of them in their own way, she was proud of Jayne as a nurse, Shane as a singer, boxer, wrestler, Carole as a truancy officer and JJ as a singer, boxer, wrestler and was thankful for him always helping her.

Roberta shared a special bond with her youngest daughter Rikki Lynn her Baby Joy. She was very proud of her service in the U.S. Marine Corps and her deployment to Fallujah, Iraq, and most of all proud that she fulfilled her commitments to the military with an Honorable discharge. Roberta followed Rikki Lynn wherever she was stationed and always stated "I would have followed her to Iraq if I could." Roberta followed Rikki Lynn around the country from California to North Carolina to Colorado to Arizona to New Mexico and played a great role in the lives of her youngest grandchildren who she called her "NM babies" (her Chaske, her Numpa Beans and her Honey Bee). Roberta's final wish was that Rikki Lynn be by her side until her final moments and Rikki Lynn was able to be there while Roberta entered the spirit world.

Roberta was a big supporter of Law Enforcement. Roberta's late husband served as a Police Officer for many years and paved the way for their children and grandchildren. Roberta was very proud of her son Shane for serving as a Police Officer and Lead Correctional Officer, her daughter Rikki Lynn serving as Lead Correctional Officer and Law Enforcement Assistant, her son Bull (Marques) serving as a Correctional Officer and her granddaughter Briann serving as a Correctional Officer. Roberta was also very proud of her son in law Piere Himel who also served as Police Officer and who has advanced to Special Agent and is currently serving.

Roberta was very accepting of her late husband's children and grandchildren and saw them as her own. She was proud of their many accomplishments and glad that she could be part of their lives and honored by those that called her "Mom".

Roberta had an impact on many peoples lives that are too numerous to mention. If you ever spent a day at her house, you would know she had a visitor every hour looking for her whether she was home or not, someone was always looking for Roberta. To all those friends and relatives please know your visits and friendships brought her much joy. Roberta had a boisterous sense of humor, always teasing, laughing, and cracking jokes. Her laugh, sense of humor, and friendship will be missed by many.

Roberta was a mother to her own children but also a mother to those who called her mom and to those who didn't have a mother. She was a grandma to her own grandkids and a grandma to whomever was in need of a grandma. She was a great friend to many and was there whenever anyone needed a friend. She was a loyal and faithful wife even in the toughest of times. She will be greatly missed and was greatly loved.
