Roberta Jean "Bobbi Jean" Montclair-Johnson

January 24, 1961 – May 18, 2023

Our beloved wife, mom, and sister Roberta "Bobbi Jean" Montclair-Johnson, 62, passed peacefully on May 18, 2023, at her home in Solen, ND.

Roberta was born in Fort Yates, North Dakota to her late father Robert Montclair Sr. and mother Angeline (Vermillion) Montclair. She was raised in Kenel, South Dakota and was the eldest of their seven daughters and fifth oldest of their fourteen children (including two half-brothers).

Roberta was educated in Fort Yates, North Dakota and attended Standing Rock Community High School where she and her siblings were residents at the dorms from 1977 until she graduated in 1979. During her high school years, she was a starred athlete in track and was one of the best 100-yard dash sprinters. She also excelled in basketball, and softball, and enjoyed playing softball into her early adult years. In 1979, Roberta moved to Fort Yates with her family where she lived and graduated from Sitting Bull College with an associate degree in business management in 1989. She also studied Business Management at LSU for a brief time.

In 1983, Roberta began her family with her son Thomas "Tommy" Vivier, who she loved and cherished.

Roberta was known for her strong work ethic and began working for Standing Rock Sioux Tribe in 1980 in the Economic Department where she remained until 1987. In 1989 she moved to West Monroe, LA for a short time and worked as a bookkeeper until 1993 when she returned to North Dakota. She was hired at the newly established Prairie Knights Casino. Roberta's 30 years of employment began at Prairie Knights as the storeroom clerk, followed by a slot attendant, surveillance officer, management trainee, human resources compliance officer, and shift manager. She established her career and enjoyed working there for the remainder of her years.

In 2003, Roberta met the love of her life Terry Johnson at Prairie Knights Casino, where they were both employed. In 2006, Roberta and Terry devoted their lives to each other and married before their family and friends along the shore of the Missouri River. They found friendship and happiness in each other and built a beautiful life together with their beloved pets.

Roberta cared for everyone she knew and spent her life often thinking of others. She often surrounded herself with friends and family, where she was most content. Roberta loved traveling with Terry and often traveled with her younger brother Lawrence and wife, Dawnette. Over the years she had several beloved pets who were her devoted companions including her beloved Zeus, Mitzee and Princess. In her spare time, she could be found baking and canning and would share her goods with friends and family. She had many talents and hobbies, including quilting, reading, watching her favorite movies, listening to country and 70's music, visiting with her family and friends, and watching her Kansas City Chiefs play.

Roberta survived by her husband, Terry Johnson; her son Thomas "Tommy" (Malleri) Vivier and their children Kittana "Kitty", Mirrabella, Mila, and Tommy, her special brother in law David Johnson, her siblings Floyd Montclair Sr, John Montclair (Dr. Tomi Kay Phillips), Barbara (Aaron) Lee, Jane (Randy) Grant, Robert (Tammy) Montclair, Lawrence Montclair (Dawnette Azure), Angel (Justin) Young, Christine (David) Tuttle, Christopher Montclair, Colette Montclair, and Nicole (John) Donaghy. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Angeline Montclair, father-in-law and mother-in-law Thomas & Helen Johnson, brothers Bobby and Clayton Montclair, nephew Thomas Grant, and friend Richie Claymore.

Roberta's family would like to acknowledge Roberta's special friendships with Charles and Ernesdean (Shade) Murphy, EJ & Vernetta Iron Eyes, Roberta Rainbow, Frank Bullhead, and fellow Management and staff at Prairie Knights Casino who she referred to as her work family. Roberta had many friends who she referred to as family that are too numerous to mention. Just know she loved each one of you and talked fondly of everyone.

Roberta will always be remembered as a loving wife, mom, sister, and friend.

We know that we can't have you but we're happy knowing that the angels have finally got you back.

Doksa Ak'e to a beautiful wife, mother, relative and friend.
