Funeral services for Robert Condon 76 of Wakpala, SD, will be at 10 AM, CT, Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Wakpala Community Center. Wake services will be at 6 PM, Thursday at the community building. Robert passed away October 21, 2017 at his home in Wakpala. Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge is in charge of arrangements.
Robert "Bob" Condon was born to Vivian Laundreaux and Pat Condon on March 19, 1941, at the CRST Old Agency. As a young boy he was raised by his grandparents Louis and Hatti Laundreaux on the Onida Ranch in South Dakota. In his early years, he attended the Pierre Indian Learning School, in Pierre SD, through the 8th grade. He later attended high school at the Catholic Boarding School in Marty, South Dakota.
Bob was bronc rider as a young man. He was a very hard worker and had many jobs, including working for the Lopez Brothers, SRST Ambulance, CRST Ambulance as an EMT, East River Trucking, Bob worked at the Grand River Casino since it opened in 1993. Bob was a very respectful, caring man and loved his children and visiting with family and friends. He had a kind, soft voice that made you really listen to the conversation. He loved to play the slot machines, his other hobbies included fishing, bowling, drawing, watching football, playing Cribbage with Chazz. Bob enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren especially Rhonna Caelex (daughter of Ronnie and Mindy Traversie). They would have their ways of communicating, be it a little noise to get her attention or a smile that would melt his heart. They would also watch their favorite shows together. Tigh Walter (son of Trampus Tiger) would also spend time with his grandpa watching their favorite football and wrestling on television. They shared their special hugs throughout the day.
Bob is survived by his wife, Caroline "Cissy" Condon, Biological daughter Jackie Wald of Rapid City. Yates ND, Mike Wald of Mobridge, Wendi Wald of MO, brothers: Clayton Wald of WY, Elmer Wald of CA, Allen of Hoven SD, Mike and Gordon Condon of Eagle Butte, Randy Crawford of Aberdeen SD, Sisters: Patricia Sobecki of OH, Billy Jean Crawford of Eureka SD, Kathy Johnson of CO, Bernice Condon, June Condon, Karen Condon all of Eagle Butte SD, Grandchildren: Daryl Paige Smith, Tomi Lynn Smith, Bobbi Renae Smith, Kodi Rose Traversie, Curtis Wayne Traversie, Alex Traversie, A. J. Traversie, Rhonna Caelex Traversie, Darian Walter Lawrence, Dayson Anthony Lawrence, Tigh Walter Tiger, Jaylyn Tiger, Jayannah Tiger, Jayce Tiger. Great Grandchild: Brylee Thomas Weleba.
Preceded in death by his mother Vivian, father Pat Condon, brother Gerald, and great grand daughter Aubree Anberlin Weleba.
