Robert Jerome Aberle was born in Bismarck, ND, on June 17, 1981, to Jerome and Christine (LaFloe) Aberle. Robert grew up in Mobridge, and graduated from Mobridge High School in 1999. After Robert graduated, he attended USD at Vermillion for one semester. He decided that college was not his calling so he moved back to Mobridge. Over the next few years, Robert worked at various jobs in the area. Eventually, he accepted a position in Beulah, North Dakota, for Dakota Helicopters which then opened the door for Herzog, the company he was with for the last seven years. He was recently promoted to supervisor within the company, which Robert was very proud of. If people were willing to listen, and even if they weren't, Robert would tell people the many details about the job that he loved.
Robert was the youngest of five children. He was active in Boy Scouts and loved to play baseball at the Legion Park in Mobridge. He began ice fishing with his dad when he was young, and the love of this sport continued. He was an avid golfer and passed this love onto his nephew by getting him his first set of golf clubs.
Before Courtney and Robert met, he was always the groomsman but never the groom. In one wedding, he was the man of honor when he stood up for a female friend. Courtney and Robert began dating in July of 2008. Robert won Courtney over with his funny antics and she won him with her patience. They fell in love and were married October 1st, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church in Mobridge. Their marriage created the union of Courtney, Robert, and Raelyn, and his daddy adventures began. They continued the family with the addition of two more beautiful daughters, Adalyn Christine, and Irelyn Sue.
Robert was a doting father and enjoyed spending time with his girls, whether it was making popcorn, watching movies, or spending time on their pontoon. Their family took a yearly trip to Rapid City to enjoy the sights and spend family time together. Another activity they enjoyed was sitting around the fire pit in their backyard making s'mores with his girls.
When he and Courtney wanted to spend time alone, they would get on his Harley and ride. He was proud of the new accessories he would buy for his bike, and even more so when he could buy his girls Harley clothing. It was very obvious when Robert dressed the girls, but they didn't mind and he was so proud when they walked out the door. Robert made the time in the evenings to Facetime Courtney and the girls every night when he was on the road. One of Robert's sentiments to Courtney was that he "couldn't imagine going through this crazy life with anyone else." God must have needed him home more than she did.
As much as he loved being with his girls, Robert found time to be with "the boys" as well. He had many friends and continued to cultivate these friendships over the years. Friends would receive a phone call from him while he was on many of his long road trips, or he would show up unannounced if he happened to be in the area. Robert was loved by many friends because he didn't hesitate to show his compassion for them. In one instance, Robert showed up daily to help a friend put his shoes on after he had back surgery.
He was notorious for buying and trading cars, avoiding manual labor at home (unless Jimmy would help), enjoying the family hot tub, and playing a mean game of rock, paper, scissors.
Robert's faith was important to him. He took a special pride in his pilgrimage to Medjugorie, Bosnia, when he was a teenager. When home on the weekends, the family would attend services at Zion Lutheran Church.
Robert was survived by the loves of his life -- wife, Courtney; daughters: Raelyn, Adalyn, and Irelyn; sisters: Mary (Chris) Fried of Mobridge; Juli (Joel) Freidel and Delia Aberle of Watertown; seven nephews: Justus, MacArthur, Sullivan, and Merrick Freidel of Watertown; Noah, Simon, Peter, and one niece, Ellie Fried of Mobridge; mother and father-in-law, James and Sue Aman; his brother-in-law, Bryce Aman, and his many friends and co-workers.
