Obituary

Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Darcy Pudwill, age 54, of Selby will be at 11 AM, Friday, April 5, 2013 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Selby. Burial will be at the Selby memorial Gardens under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will begin at 5 PM, Thursday at the church with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Darcy lost his fight with cancer on March 30, 2013 at the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Richard Darcy Pudwill was born in Gettysburg, SD on July 11, 1958 to Dick and Phylliss (Gross) Pudwill of Selby.

He attended elementary and high school in Selby, graduating in the class of 1976. He attended college at Northern in Aberdeen. He entered the US Army in 1980. He was a medical Laboratory Specialist assigned to 5th MASH, 82 Airborne in Fort Bragg, NC. He spent two years overseas in different places including Germany and Egypt. He participated in the Rescue of US citizens during the Invasion of Grenada. After being released from active duty he remained in the US Army reserve with the 452nd Ordnance Co. in Aberdeen, SD and continued his education at the University of South Dakota and University of New Mexico. He was again ordered to active duty in support of Desert Shield/ Desert Storm and was Honorably Discharged in May 1991.

He was employed by Enron Corp and Prairie Partners as an Archeologist and doing construction. He married Annette Amiotte at Albuquerque, NM on February 1, 1991. He enjoyed fishing on the river with special friends, Bruce Clement and Tim and Tyke Schumacher. A very special event to him was the annual cousin hunt on opening day of pheasant season on the Oberlitner and Sheldon acres.

He is survived by his parents, Dick and Phylliss of Selby, brother, Gregg of Selby, dog, Jacques of Selby, stepdaughter, Amia Moore and many special aunts, uncles and cousins, God Parents, Dick Gross of Sioux Falls, and Yvonne Brown of Excelsior, MN.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Pauline Pudwill of Herreid and E.F. and Gert (Goebel) Gross of Gettysburg.
