Funeral services for Richard "Richie" Marrowbone, Jr., 22 of Eagle Butte, SD will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. John's Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services in the church. Richie passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 in Eagle Butte, SD.

Richard "Richie" Cyril Marrowbone Jr. made his grand entrance into a world full of love on September 12, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital to proud parents Charlene Lends His Horse and Richard Marrowbone Sr. Richie was welcomed back to the spirit world by his dad on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024, where he will forever be our handsome angel.

Richie lived in Rapid City, SD as an infant and eventually, the family moved back to Eagle Butte, SD in 2001. Richie attended St. Joseph's Indian School in Chamberlain, SD from 2012-2016 where he met his long-time friends who became family. While attending St. Joe's, Richie was an exceptional student who excelled scholastically. After Chandler graduated 8th grade, he followed his sister back home and transferred to Cheyenne-Eagle Butte School. Throughout the rest of Richie's school days, he became outgoing and perfected the art of joking. Richie had a sense of humor and was always pulling his mother's leg. At school, Richie met Sarita and fell in love with her dimples as he tells the "how we met" story. Richie and Sarita fell in love and blessed us with three beautiful children, Royal Dior (3), Richie Divine (2) and Rosaline Reyann (1). We were also blessed with his 3rd son Andre Jeremiah on April 15, 2021.

Richie's father was so proud of his firstborn son, he carried him everywhere he went and showed him off anywhere and everywhere. Richie was the spitting image of his dad but with curly hair. After Richard's passing in 2008, Richie's mother Charlene continued to provide for the family in Eagle Butte breathing nothing but love and light into Richie's life.

Richie worked for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe during the COVID-19 pandemic as border patrol security. After the borders shut down, Richie spent his time raising his children and working on his GED. On Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, he received his GED and was set to be acknowledged in June for his accomplishments. He was very proud of himself as we were, and he was set on pursuing a career.

Richie's death was devastating and unexpected as his presence and contagious smile is dearly missed by all those who loved him. He will always be remembered for his smile and the tight hugs he gave as he greeted everyone and never forgot to tell everyone to stay safe. Richie was a character and had a great personality with a sense of humor that caused laughter to follow.
