Funeral services for Richard John Pudwill, age 70 of Herreid will be 10:30 AM Monday, August 5, 2019 at Peace Lutheran Church in Herreid. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be Sunday, August 4, 2019 beginning at 4:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at the church. Richard passed away Thursday, August 1, 2019 at his home.

Richard Pudwill was born on April 14, 1949 to Wilmer and Betty (Van Beek) Pudwill in Mobridge, SD.  He graduated from the Pollock High School in 1967.

Rick joined the US Army in October 27, 1969 and was discharged November 30, 1970.

He married Holly Goehring on July 13, 1973 at the St. Michael's church in Herreid, SD.  They made their home at the family farm west of Herreid where they farmed, milked cows and raised their four children, Dawn, David, Debbie, and Dyan.  Rick retired from his milk herd and farming in 2004.   In the fall of 2005 he began his work at the Campbell County Highway Dept. where he worked until he fully retired in January of 2015.

During his retirement "Papa Ricky" (the nickname his grandkids had for him) enjoyed watching his favorite TV shows which included Fox News, numerous old westerns, and the History Channel.  He also was passionate about following the sporting events of his grandchildren and watching them "grow up".

Rick is survived by his wife Holly; his children, Dawn (Chad) Hoffman of Center, ND, David Pudwill of Volga, SD, Debbie (Josh) Sayler of Herreid, SD, Dyan Pudwill of Bismarck, ND; grandchildren, Hunter and Brooklyn Hoffman, Trevor, Trey and Kaden Sayler; step grandchild, Samantha (Jesse) Graber; step grandchildren, Gunner, Layla and Kali; sisters, Peggy (Arlyn) Hasper of Herreid, Cynthia (Dwight) Rossow of Herreid, Susan (Larry) Goehring of Herreid; along with numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Betty Pudwill; Grandparents John and Helen Pudwill, Dick and Minnie Van Beek, and a great granddaughter Navaeh Graber.
