Burial will be in Elkhorn Episcopal Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. All night wake starting at 5PM on November 29, 2015 at the Blue Gym. Sammi passed away Friday, November 20, 2015 at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, ND.

Renee Sammi was born July 19, 1975 at Fort Yates to Gerald and Lucille (Grindstone) Yellow Earrings. She went to school and graduated from Little Eagle Day School.
She was a 4th generation grand-daughter to Chief Grindstone.
In 1994 Renee Sammi moved to Bullhead, South Dakota and for the next 21 years, she shared her life with Carmelita Bear Ribs who is her partner, best friend, and soul mate. Renee Sammi was a quiet, reserved and private person. In 2008 she moved to Ft Yates, ND with her family. She enjoyed raising 2 nieces Kya and Chania Crow Ghost and 2 nephews Dallas Jr. And Jaden Crow Ghost she loved , traveling, reading books, going to the movies, spending times outdoors with her favorite places was Pactola Lake and Lake Tahoe in Nevada, she enjoyed watching her friends softball games, spending time at home with her family, loves listening to music. Sammi Jo loves to travel as she traveled to Washington, D.C several times and many other states in the west coast. Her main passion was caring for children and her puppy Miley. She is a very caring and friendly person who always ensured her family was priority. She worked at Prairie Knights Casino from 2000 to 2004 and after that she was self-employed as a child caretaker. She loved children of all ages as she was a very patient, sensitive, and caring person throughout her life. She was considered the foundation of her family and she will be dearly missed.
Sammi is survived by her partner, Carmelita Bear Ribs, 2 nieces, Kya and Chania Crow Ghost and 2 nephews Dallas Jr. And Jaden Crow Ghost, nine sisters, Jeanell Yellow Earrings, Faye (Wilbur) Mutchler, of Isabel, SD, Delta (Charles) Jamerson, and Violet (Bernie) Rainbow, both of Fort Yates, ND, Brenda (Robert) Steele, Claudia Yellow Earrings, Virginia Yellow Earrings, Tonia Yellow Earrings, Patty (Donvan) Red Legs, all of Little Eagle, three brothers, Ivan Yellow Earrings, Gerald Yellow Earrings Jr. both of Little Eagle, Brian Yellow Earrings, of McLaughlin, She also had 26 nieces and 13 nephews. Aunties, Diane (Leon) Brown Otter of McLaughlin, Fern Has Horns and Mary Ann (LeRoy) White, both of Little Eagle, Cordelia (Russel) Benoist, Faye Condon and family of Eagle Butte, Uncles, Aaron Grindstone, Richard Yellow Earrings, and Sidney Eagle Shield Jr., Wilbur Flying Bye Sr. and family. Sammi is also survived by her dog Miley also known as "Baby".

Sammi was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers Stanley A. Yellow Earrings, Myron D. Yellow Earrings, 2 nieces, Melissa N. Brown Otter, Mandy I. Mutchler, 4 nephews, George K.W. Iron Shield, Keith B. Grindstone, Chico D. Red Legs, Jonathan R. Red Legs.
