Rechinda Bowker, age 71, of Azle, TX and formerly of Eagle Butte passed away Monday, October 4, 2010 at the Texas Health Services Hospital in Azle. Arrangements are pending with Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.

Rechinda Gloria (Cook) Bowker was born December 14, 1938 to Wilson and Helen (Blue Eyes) Cook. She grew up in Eagle Butte, attended, and graduated school at the Old Agency. Rechinda went on to college in Aberdeen. She then met and later married Coke Bowker. To that union Coke Jr., and Burke Bowker were born. They resided in Azle, TX until she entered the spirit world.

She developed skills as an artist in 1975, when an artist friend provided the encouragement and inspiration for her first efforts as a sculptor. Rechinda has produced a new work in bronze every two years and has shown her work at the Heard Museum in Phoenix, AZ, the Philbrook Museum in Tulsa, OK, The Trail of Tears Art Show in Tahlequah, OK, Northern Plains Tribal Arts in Sioux Falls, SD, the Red Cloud Indian Art Show in Pine Ridge, SD and in galleries in Texas and South Dakota. She was a member of the Dream Catchers Artists Guild, an organization of Sioux artists whose purpose is to create and foster a greater understanding and appreciation for the art of the Lakota People

She is survived by son Burke of Azle, TX, cousins Loveleah In The Woods, Aaron Swan, Shirley of NY, brother-in-law Hank Bowker of Aberdeen, sisters-in-law Gloria Two Crow of Dallas, TX and Donna Clauen of Eagle Butte.

Rechinda is preceded in death by her son, Coke Jr., husband Coke Sr. in 2009, mom Helen, and Brother Bernat.

Casketbearers will be Larry In Woods, Burke "JoJo" Bowker, Troy Clausen, Devin Clausen, Zach High Bear, and Roland Collins.

Honorary Bearers will be Brenda Stanley, Diane Duck, and All Family
