Obituary

Raymond L. Huber, 80, of McLaughlin, SD died Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck, ND.

Ray was born February 2, 1935 to Christ & Martha (Stoecker) Huber in Mahto, SD. As a young boy he lived with his family on the farm.
He graduated from McLaughlin High School in 1954 and proceeded on to Northern State College in Aberdeen where he earned a two year Drafting Certificate.

In 1957, Ray served in the United States Army for 2 years. He was stationed in Germany for Post-War Cleanup.

In 1959 Ray returned to McLaughlin where he was employed at the First State Bank as a teller.

Ray & Elsie (Geigle) were married on August 30, 1959. The couple lived the next 40 years in their hometown of McLaughlin.

Ray was active in the United Church of Christ, the Lions Club, the American Legion, and was a school board member.

In 1972, Ray graduated from The School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin. He then was promoted to a loan officer and in charge of bank operations, retiring as Vice President in 1989.

He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping, and golf after retirement.
In 1999 Ray lost Elsie to Cancer. He began traveling and settled in Apache Junction, AZ as a "snowbird" where he met June Westgate and was married in December 2005. They continued spending winters in Arizona and summers in McLaughlin, Canada, and the Black Hills until both Ray & June had health issues.

Ray enjoyed living with his three children before moving to Edgewood Vista in Mandan, ND.

He is survived by his wife; June, children; Wade Huber (Kari) of Mandan, Marcy Reeves (Brad) of Mobridge, and Sheryl Grout (Rick) of Webster, grandchildren; Matthew & Jennie Huber, Chris & Cal Reeves, and Allison, Austin, & Aiden Grout, June's children; Brian, Cindi, and Cheryl, sister; Leona Warns (Inwood, IA), brother; Mickey Huber (McLaughlin), and sister-in-law; Yvonne Morrison (Bedford, TX), and many special nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elsie, his parents, brother, Leo, and his brother-in-law, Marvin Warns.

A family service and visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 7:30 at Kesling Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the United Church of Christ in Mobridge with Faye Jackman officiating. Burial will be at the UCC Cemetery in McLaughlin under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
