Funeral services for Randal Eagleshield Sr., 43, of McLaughlin will be 11:00 a.m. CT, Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the Little Eagle Blue Gym. Burial is in the Has Horn - Eagleshield cemetery under the direction of the Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. All-night wake is 5:00 p.m. CT, with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, April 24, 2015, at the McLaughlin Blue Gym. Randal passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at his home.
Randal A. Eagleshield Sr., 43, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at his home in McLaughlin, South Dakota.
Randal (Cousy) was born in Fort Yates, North Dakota on March 15, 1972. He graduated from McLaughlin High School in May of 1990. He went on to attend the University of Nebraska, Haskell Indian Nations University and Sitting Bull College where he received multiple associate degrees pertaining to environmental science. His thirst for knowledge was equaled to his love of playing football. He played football for Standing Rock High School, McLaughlin High School, Haskell Indian Nations University, and was a walk on for the Nebraska Corn Huskers Black shirt practice squad. Randal was also an active National Guard member in the U.S. Army 211th Engineer Company for many years.
Randal was an enthused environmentalist and it showed through his education and extensive employment history. He was employed with SRST Department of Water Resources, Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe Department of Natural Resources, SRST Department of Regulations/EPA, Sitting Bull College, SRST MRI/OMR and IHS Office of Environmental Engineering.
In his spare time, Randy enjoyed many activities including; football, bowling, darts, golf, hunting, poker, blackjack, fishing, pool and foosball. Before his passing, his main enjoyment was in his dart league. He enjoyed playing with his Thursday night dart team the "Snipers". He was involved in many activities and was very prosperous at everything he put his mind to. Randy was also a devoted member of American Legion Post 239 in Little Eagle, South Dakota.
Family and Friends were always a priority.
