Ramona Mae Hopkins (née Three Legs) passed away on June 13th, 2022, at her home in Hillsboro, OR at the age of 80. Funeral services will be held at St. Elizabeth Episcopal Church, Wakpala, SD at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. Burial will take place following the service at the church cemetery under the direction of Keslling Funeral Home of Mobridge.

Ramona was born in Wakpala, South Dakota to Henry James Three Legs and Matilda Martha Catch the Bear on August 24 ^th , 1941.

Ramona grew up on the Standing Rock Reservation in a modest adobe home without running water or electricity. Early on, her family's means of transport was by horse and wagon. She inherited her lifelong love of animals from her father who frequently took in a variety of stray or injured animals including skunks, raccoons, deer, a barn owl and more. Ramona always spoke fondly of her beloved horse "Whitey" who she would ride for hours out on the prairie and also in "Barrel Races" at local rodeos.

Ramona moved to California in the late 1960's where she eventually met her husband Greg in the late 1970s in San Diego, CA. She enjoyed going hiking, biking, going to Powwow's and checking out historical locations in Southern California with her family. Greg and Ramona moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1996 where she resided for the remainder of her life. Ramona enjoyed watching Westerns, NASCAR and going to the Speedway to watch the car races.

Ramona was a strong Christian woman who was devoted to her family, her faith and God. She was involved with building churches, children's ministries, and helping the homeless. Ramona was always willing to be a listening ear, being a friend and helping those around her who needed a helping hand. She made a huge difference in many lives and will be greatly missed.

Ramona will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 39 years, Gregory; and her children: Ira Three Legs (Myrna Three Legs, both of Minneapolis, MN), Harold Three Legs Sr. (Hillsboro, OR), and Burton Ober (La Jolla, CA); grandchildren: Mary Donley (Brett Donley, both from Hillsboro, Ore.), Krystal Three Legs (Sioux Falls, SD), Harold Jr. Three Legs (Stephanie Three Legs, both of Ashland, MT), Henry Three Legs (Seattle, WA), Kate Three Legs (Eagle Butte, SD), Trevor Three Legs (Patience Three Legs, both of Mobridge, SD), Ramona Three Legs (Oscar, both of Greengrass, SD), Tia Three Legs (Minneapolis, MN), Pamela Three Legs (Minneapolis, MN), Desirae Kruzor (McLaughlin, SD), and Jaimie Three Legs (Minneapolis, MN); as well as Erma, Cheyenne and John Franco (Hillsboro, OR) and other numerous great-grandchildren, relatives, friends, and her fur babies: Conduit & Cosmo.

She was predeceased by her parents Henry and Matilda; her siblings: Peter, Wilbur, James, Julianne, Mary Jo, and Nellie; and her daughter Pamela.

Although she was small in stature, she wielded a strong personality and gave us all courage, hope, faith and reminded us of the preciousness of life.
