Ramona passed away Friday, October 28, 2022, at IHS Hospital in Eagle Butte.

Ramona "Mona" Louise Jewett, entered this world on October 29, 1949 to Louis & Belle (Lafferty) Jewett at Cheyenne Agency. She joined older siblings Luann and Marcel, and later welcomed Gregory and Marcelline, where they grew up playing on the banks of the Missouri River, before it was flooded in 1959. She always remembered the bridge being built and returning home, after a school year, to their childhood home and community being under water. She attended St. Joseph Boarding school in Chamberlain then later went on to graduate from Stephan High School in 1967.

Following graduation, Mona met Elroy DuBray and the two were married June 17, 1968 and they made their home in Ft Bragg, North Carolina. They welcomed their daughter, Diane, in August of 1968. After Elroy's discharge from the army, they moved back to Cheyenne River where they welcomed their daughter, Donita, in October of 1969. In 1972, they moved to Brookings where Elroy attended college, then on to Browning, MT where their son, Ross, was born in April of 1976. She was a stay-at-home mom, taking care of her children in their formative years. In 1980, Elroy and Mona went separate ways, however the two remained close friends throughout the years and they would often joke that it was a "good divorce" and she always referred to him as "the father of my children".

Mona was deeply rooted in Lakota spirituality, she found her place in ceremony and she devoted much of her adult life to Lakota ways of life; she was a sundancer and later became an integral part of her family sundance ceremony as Pejúta ȟóta wašté wiŋ, Good Sage Woman. She had a lifelong love of learning; she loved to read, write, create, and share her wealth of knowledge with the many, many friendships she made throughout her life.

Mona devoted her life to taking care of people in different capacities, working at the CRST Telephone Authority, CRST Cable TV, CRST Personnel office, Cheyenne River Housing Authority and the Healthy Start Program. Following her mother's death in 1994, she moved to White Horse where she took care of her Dad until his death in 2014. Mona moved into the Medicine Wheel Village in Eagle Butte where she remained a resident until her death.

Ramona is survived by her daughters, Diane DuBray of Whitehorse; Donita (Earp) Fischer of Parade; son, Ross DuBray of Brookings; grandchildren Scottie (Alycia), Amanda (Brice), Ashley (Ryan), Courtney (Jarrid), Miles, Gavin, Caedmon, and Archer; Great Grandsons Trey'ton, Louie and Elroy; Great Grandaughters Elouise and Everley; brothers Marcel Jewett of Eagle Butte and Greg Jewett of Dupree; one sister Marcelline (Mike) Lesmeister of Parade; and Aunts Nita Gable of Georgia, Candy Jewett and Mary Jewett of White Horse; and numerous first cousins and extended family and friends.
